The Red River Exhibition in Winnipeg, MB proved to be a first class exhibition experience combined with value for the whole family.
North American Midway offered a ten-ride card for $20.00 available only if purchased in advance and the Fair offered four days where fairgoers could enter the Ex for only $5.00 before 5pm. The Exhibition even took it one step further and offered a free pancake breakfast and gate admission on Father’s Day and free gate admission for three hours on “Aboriginal Day”. These great values were only the beginning of what was the best line-up ever inside the gates at the Red River Exhibition.
The brand-new $3 million, 39,000 sq ft building “Exhibition Place” was unveiled to fairgoers. Exhibition Place housed “Savoir-Faire” – a food and wine experience featuring Manitoba delicacies and celebrity chefs. Also displayed in Exhibition Place were paintings, drawings, photography and sculptures created by Manitoba amateur artists.
The second new structure was “Centreplace Manitoba” a 2,560 sq ft sustainable living building that was moved to the Exhibition grounds from the Vancouver Olympic site, where the building featured Manitoba during the 2010 Winter Games.
A great new interactive exhibit included “The Fishing Pond” where children can practice catch and release in the fully stocked pond. And for the more daring fairgoer Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo with the “Giant Lizards of the World, including a seven foot crocodile and “The Live Shark Encounter” which featured a giant shark tank where the diver would actually get inside the tank with the shark.
The Central Park free stage featured ten different concerts over the 10 nights, music varied from Canadian rock, country, and aboriginal to Senior Idol. Senior Idol was a province wide talent search for the 50-plus crowd.
“Active” packed entertainment included the Extreme Canines Stunt Dog Show and Gymnaestrada, a gymnastic display. Yoga and Tai Chi demonstrations were included in the “Ex In Motion’ exhibit promoting physical fitness and providing the first 100 visitors with free pedometers.
North American Midway thanks the Red River Exhibition for their continued support and sponsorship of a “Best of Show” award for one chosen NAME employee. The lucky winner of a brand new ipod Touch was Stephane Van Breda from our midway pizza concession. Stephane was chosen for her exceptional customer service during the 10-day event.
